DENTAL IMPLANTS

Implants

It's an undoubted fact that the impact of a bright, attractive smile can appeal to others and attracts people to you. If you are unhappy and too much conscious about your teeth, it can affect your personality and self-confidence. The advances in cosmetic dentistry are changing the lives of people by helping them regain their confidence; one such cosmetic dental procedure is dental restoration using dental implants.

Dental Implants

Dental Implants are small titanium screw-like posts that replace your damaged or missing teeth using artificial teeth that look and function like the natural ones. Dental Implant surgery is an option that can prove beneficial for people who have lost single or multiple teeth due to trauma, aging, periodontal disease, or any other reasons.

Benefits of Dental Implants

  • One major benefit of using a dental implant to restore your missing teeth is the aesthetic appeal it provides to the patient. This can help them regain their confidence.

  • Beyond aesthetics, dental implants are firmer and more comfortable for a person to chew and eat as they wish.

  • Dental implants preserve the bone and the jaw's shape, thus eliminating the risk of drifting of the teeth.

  • Unlike dentures, dental implants are more convenient and do not slip, click or fall out when you speak.

  • Unlike fixed bridges, a dental implant does not require the filing of the regular neighboring teeth.

Procedure

Dental Implant surgery is performed in stages and requires multiple appointments at the dental office, with healing time required between procedures. The implant procedure involves the following steps.

• Damaged Tooth Removal

As the first step, we will be removing the damaged tooth/teeth via surgical or surgical extraction. A clinical examination via X-rays will also be done to assess the bone.

• Bone Grafting

If we find that your bone is not strong or dense enough to support the dental implant, you may need an additional bone grafting procedure. This process creates a solid base for the implant if the jawbone is too soft or not dense enough to support the dental implant.

• Bone & Growth Healing

During your next visit, we will evaluate your bone healing by taking x-rays. During osseointegration, the jawbone grows and unites with the surface of the dental implant, acting as a firm base for the new artificial tooth. Once the bone is well-healed, we will take your teeth impression that is used to make the crown, bridge, or denture.

• Abutment Placement

When osseointegration is complete, we will reopen the gum to attach the abutment to the dental implant, and then the gum tissue is closed. You will be provided with temporary crowns during your implant procedure for cosmetic reasons to fill the space of the missing teeth.

• Artificial Tooth Replacement

Once the gums heal and the jawbone becomes strong enough to support the artificial tooth, we will attach them to the implants.

The entire process takes many months, devoting much time to heal and waiting for new bone growth in the jaw.
